Software Industry - Assessment for Cloud Migration
The customer is an Austria-based Microsoft partner. It specializes in process automation and app integration, with demonstrable capabilities in support, operations, and SLA, among others. It wanted to migrate resources from Visual Studio Enterprise, i.e., from Microsoft Partner Network (MPN) to Cloud Service Provider (CSP) subscription. It approached one of Corent’s partners for expert advice.
The partner used Corent’s Migration as a Service (MaaS) to deliver Cloud assessment services. The partner scanned and assessed the customer’s environment and generated detailed reports. The reports on migration feasibilities for the datacenter and its servers were shared with the customer.

Challenges:
Pinpointing infra details/resource information available in the given MPN subscription.
Planning migration after identifying migration groups and segregating them based on regions and plan.
Ensuring adherence to subscription quotas, and architecting/altering resources to meet configuration requirements before migrating.
Drawing meaningful information about applications, database, and resource storage (size).
Identifying the connected resources by pinpointing inter-server dependency within a given subscription.
Solution:
MaaS scanner can capture all infrastructure details/resource information available in the MPN subscription.
MaaS traced and identified the server dependency mapping with the help of connected ports and segregated the groups formigration planning.
MaaS is capable of listing and selecting the required configurations. It also helps alter the resources before migration.
MaaS identified the app services, DB sizes, and utilization data on CPU, memory, and network to calculate equivalence matching and offer right-sizing suggestions.
MaaS identified the connected resources by retrieving the communication ports, process IDs,and location info, based on which it pinpointed the server dependency.
Result:
By using MaaS, the partner helped the customer to analyze their infra/resources and formulate an optimum strategy.
