Migrating an Application to AWS using MaaS
Zensar, a leading Indian IT services company delivering innovative industry-focused solutions to their customers, wanted to migrate one of their applications from a Public Cloud to AWS. Corent’s MaaS was their choice in assessing the Cloud environment for compatibility and migrating to AWS.
It is important to assess the source environment and identify a complete list of critical factors that will impact AWS migration. Zensar was able to explore their application’s workload components and develop an overarching strategy for their AWS migration.
Challenges:
Assessing and migrating an application, running on a Cloud environment, to AWS
Difficult to set up a new deployment of the same application on Cloud due to lack of deployment expertise
Comparing the application’s current Cloud cost with AWS pricing
Wanted to analyze if migrating this application would affect any other servers in the Cloud environment
Solution:
Application was migrated as-is to AWS using MaaS in Lift & Shift mode, eliminating the need to deploy the application again
Since the Cloud environment was restricted for external access, migrated using Vanguard server that was set up within their environment
Comprehensive assessment reports were generated with a detailed comparison of cost between selected Clouds
MaaS' dependency mapping capability helped in identifying a server within the Cloud environment that was communicating with the application. Customer eliminated this dependency before migration
Result:
Zensar migrated their application from a Public Cloud to AWS with confidence. With the help of Corent's MaaS, Zensar was able to develop a cloud migration strategy which ensured that the application users faced no disruption and the migration budget was within control.
